Wendy L. Hooton:

Wendy is an author, speaker, Down syndrome advocate, and coach.

Wendy found her strength and her voice when she became a mom to her son, who at birth, surprised her with his Down syndrome diagnosis. She has thirty-two years of lived expertise and is passionate about sharing her incredible but unplanned journey. She is dedicated to helping new parents move beyond the shock and grief they might experience after learning of a newborn’s unexpected prognosis. She aspires to help other women find their own strength and voice to speak up for themselves and their children.

Wendy has eighteen years of experience working with a nonprofit organization, where she learned leadership skills and developed ties with the community while offering support to families.

Prior to becoming an author, she spent thirty-five years with a Fortune 500 company. There she trained and mentored new team members and managed premier accounts while delivering outstanding customer service to CPOs and People Operations.

The day Wendy became a mom, she also became a teacher, a student and a warrior. She’s fun, motivated, dedicated and fearless, which may be what qualified her for the position. When she is not lost in her writing or soaking up words written by other authors, Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and friends on adventurous road trips, at a beach, or driving through the majestic Utah mountains. Her favorite activity, though, is being entertained by her hilarious son.
